Community Outreach Plan
At Four Directions Autism, we believe in building strong relationships with Indigenous communities through community outreach initiatives that are guided by the four R principles: Respect, Relevance, Reciprocity, and Responsibility.
Respect: We understand the importance of respecting the cultural practices and traditions of Indigenous communities. We will engage with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers to ensure that our outreach initiatives are culturally appropriate and respectful. We will also acknowledge the traditional territories of the Indigenous communities we work with.
Relevance: We will ensure that our outreach initiatives are relevant to the needs and interests of Indigenous communities. We will work with community members to identify their needs and develop programs and resources that are tailored to their specific needs.
Reciprocity: We believe in building reciprocal relationships with Indigenous communities based on trust and mutual respect. We will engage in two-way communication with Indigenous communities to ensure that our outreach initiatives are meeting their needs. We will also offer our expertise and resources to support community-led initiatives and projects.
Responsibility: We take our responsibility to Indigenous communities seriously. We will work to build long-term partnerships with Indigenous communities that are based on accountability and transparency. We will also ensure that our outreach initiatives are sustainable and have a positive impact on the communities we serve.

2. Providing workshops on cultural safety and humility for healthcare providers, educators, and service providers who work with Indigenous communities.
3. Developing culturally appropriate resources and materials, such as videos, pamphlets, and brochures, that can be used to educate Indigenous communities on special needs, developmental disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder.
4. Engaging in community events and celebrations, such as powwows and festivals, to build relationships with Indigenous communities and promote our services.
5. Partnering with Indigenous organizations and community leaders to develop community-led initiatives and projects that address the specific needs of Indigenous communities.
At Four Directions Autism, we are committed to building strong relationships with Indigenous communities through respectful, relevant, reciprocal, and responsible community outreach initiatives. We believe that these initiatives will help us to better understand the needs of Indigenous communities and to provide the support and resources that they need to improve the quality of life for Indigenous children with special needs, developmental disabilities, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
