Four Directions Autism

Four Directions Autism is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Indigenous children with special needs, developmental disabilities, and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our mission is to break down barriers and ensure Indigenous families have equal access to the supports and services they deserve.

For Parents and Caregivers

We support families in navigating complex systems with care and cultural understanding. Whether you're new to these programs or feeling overwhelmed, Four Directions Autism is here to walk alongside you.
  • We offer a free 30-minute session with a parent volunteer who has personal experience navigating the same systems and challenges. These volunteers provide guidance, share lived experience, and help point you in the right direction.
  • We provide compassionate assistance with applications for Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) and Jordan’s Principle.
  • We offer clear information and referrals to service providers and equipment vendors that offer direct billing options.
  • We help connect families to culturally aware and appropriate supports tailored to their child’s unique needs.
Please note: Our parent volunteers are not emergency or crisis workers. For urgent or time-sensitive needs, we encourage you to reach out directly to Jordan’s Principle or NIHB for faster service and official support.
You're not alone—our community is here to support you with compassion, lived knowledge, and understanding.

For Businesses, Academia, and NGOs

We offer specialized training and consulting services to:
  • Organizations, not-for-profits, NGOs, charities, social enterprises, governments, and academic researchers looking to build cultural competency and improve service delivery for Indigenous communities.
  • Assist with research partnerships involving qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method analysis, with capacity for up to 500 participants.
  • Provide expertise in Indigenous Program Design, Program Evaluation, Jurisdictional Scans, and Indigenous Case Analysis.
All services are available at a standard consulting rate, and we welcome new opportunities to collaborate on impactful projects that align with our values.

Disclaimer:

Four Directions Autism is committed to supporting Indigenous children with special needs, developmental disabilities, and autism. We provide free application support for NIHB and Jordan’s Principle to First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and Urban Indigenous (FNIMUI) families.

This support is offered on a volunteer basis by fellow parents who have been through the process themselves and want to share their knowledge and best practices. These volunteers are not employees or service providers, but community members offering their time to help others navigate the system.

We never charge FNIMUI families and do not accept payment for our assistance.
Please note: We are not a registered charity or not-for-profit organization under the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). We are simply a grassroots initiative committed to supporting our community--no cost, no pressure, just community helping community.
