At Four Directions Autism, we are committed to building strong, sustainable relationships with Indigenous communities through outreach initiatives rooted in the four R principles: Respect, Relevance, Reciprocity, and Responsibility.
Respect: We recognize the significance of respecting the cultural practices and traditions of Indigenous communities. Our outreach initiatives will engage with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers to ensure they are culturally appropriate. We will also acknowledge the traditional territories of the Indigenous communities we collaborate with.
Relevance: We aim to ensure that our initiatives align with the needs and interests of Indigenous communities. By working closely with community members, we will identify their needs and co-develop programs and resources that are tailored to those needs.
Reciprocity: We value building reciprocal, trust-based relationships with Indigenous communities. Our approach involves open, two-way communication to ensure our initiatives are genuinely addressing their needs. We also offer our expertise and resources to support community-led initiatives.
Responsibility: We take our responsibility to Indigenous communities seriously. Our goal is to establish long-term, accountable partnerships that prioritize transparency and sustainability, ensuring that our initiatives have a meaningful, positive impact on the communities we serve.
